Polish court awards $4,600 compensation for failed permanent eyebrow makeup

A Polish court has ordered compensation of 18,500 PLN (approximately $4,600 USD) to a woman who received poorly executed permanent eyebrow makeup. The case centered on a botched procedure that left the client with thick, asymmetrical, and black eyebrows, far from the subtle, natural enhancement she had sought.

The client had specifically requested the ombre technique from an experienced technician, expecting it to enhance her natural beauty. Instead, she emerged from the salon with eyebrows that were not only aesthetically displeasing but also significantly different from the promised outcome. Initially, she was told to wait several weeks for the final effect, but it soon became clear that the makeup was irreparable and would require removal.

Her concerns were validated by consultations at two independent beauty clinics. When her complaint was rejected by the salon, she took the matter to court. In her lawsuit, she detailed the profound impact the situation had on her daily life, describing feelings of disfigurement and embarrassment. Working in a medical clinic, she faced daily reactions from people to her appearance, adding to her distress.

The regional court ruled in her favor, acknowledging the costs she incurred in attempting to rectify the situation and the future expenses for correct permanent makeup. The court determined that the technician, despite her professional experience, lacked the requisite skills for the ombre technique. This deficiency resulted in eyebrows that were excessively thick, dark, and harsh. The court concluded that the technician's actions caused a significant damage to the plaintiff's image. Furthermore, the specialist offered no assistance in correcting or removing the botched makeup, forcing the client to seek solutions independently and endure a painful removal process.
