Political understanding in Negeri Sembilan limited to state, says UMNO VP

Political cooperation between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) during the Negeri Sembilan state election was confined to that state, according to UMNO Vice President Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail. He clarified that any decisions regarding political partnerships in other states would be made collectively by the party's highest leadership, not by individuals.

"As of today, that cooperation was only in Negeri Sembilan. For other states, we will discuss first, and the decision will not be made by one person but collectively by the party's top leadership," Wan Rosdy said. He explained that the situation in Negeri Sembilan necessitated cooperation, and in politics, wise considerations and sometimes sharing are needed to achieve larger goals.

Wan Rosdy, who is also the Pahang Menteri Besar, noted that the political landscape is constantly changing and dynamic. Therefore, a party's approach may differ across states. He pointed to Johor and Negeri Sembilan as examples where political strategies vary.

He stressed the importance of UMNO strengthening its grassroots work by engaging with the public, particularly young people, to restore confidence in the party. "We must continue to work, approach the people and young people, and give them hope so that UMNO can regain stronger support," he added.
