Politician accuses ruling party of blocking answers on healthcare spending

Croatian politician Katarina Kekin has accused the ruling HDZ party of obstructing transparency regarding public healthcare expenditures. Kekin stated that the party's majority is preventing answers to critical questions about why Croatia has allegedly failed to secure essential oncology diagnostics for nearly two decades.

Kekin highlighted that, instead of investing in necessary equipment for public hospitals, significant public funds are reportedly being directed annually to a select private provider. She asserted that the amount spent this year alone is more than double what would be needed to purchase all the required devices for public healthcare facilities.

"The HDZ majority does not want answers to the questions of how it is possible that the Republic of Croatia has not secured key oncology diagnostics for almost 20 years but persistently, year after year, pours millions into the pockets of a chosen private entity, only this year more than double the amount needed to pay for all the necessary devices for public hospitals," Kekin stated. She emphasized that the documentation related to this issue will be submitted to the State Attorney's Office (DORH).
