Politicians agree Czechia must respond to Leipzig incident, opposition offers advice

Czech politicians across the government and opposition are calling for a response to recent hybrid attacks and acts of sabotage in Germany. Berlin says Moscow was responsible for the incident at Leipzig airport, putting the question of a Czech reaction on the political agenda.

Filip Turek, honorary president of the Motorists party, praised Foreign Minister Petr Macinka for planning to summon Russia’s ambassador in Czechia over the incident in Germany.

Jan Lipavský, however, described the move as “the diplomatic minimum.” The remark reflects a disagreement over whether summoning the ambassador goes far enough, even as politicians broadly agree that the Leipzig incident requires a response.
