Politicians Must Not Use 3R Issues for Votes, Says UMNO Chief Azalina Othman Said

Politicians must cease exploiting sensitive issues of race, religion, and royalty for electoral gain, urged UMNO Information Chief Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said. She cautioned against rhetoric that could incite anger or fear, emphasizing that Malaysia's stability stems from the unity of its diverse population. Azalina highlighted that Barisan Nasional (BN) is founded on the consensus of Malaysians from various backgrounds, fostering cooperation while upholding the constitutional rights of all citizens.

Azalina specifically addressed remarks by Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md. Nor, who suggested that only Malays truly belong to Malaysia while other ethnic groups have their ancestral homelands elsewhere. She countered this by asserting that for millions of Malaysian Chinese and Indians, Malaysia is their one and only homeland, not a temporary stop. She stressed that the Federal Constitution guarantees the rights and standing of all citizens, ensuring they share the same homeland and are protected equally.

Focusing on the upcoming campaign, Azalina stated that Negeri Sembilan residents deserve discussions on issues directly impacting their lives, such as the cost of living, job opportunities, housing, education, and healthcare. She asserted that BN does not rely on fear-mongering tactics but instead offers stability, experience, and moderation, providing a place for every citizen. "BN is a shared home for all Malaysians," she declared, vowing to protect this unity from those seeking temporary political advantage.
