Poll: Kim Min-seok leads Democratic Party leadership race at 24%, Chung Jin-suk at 19%

As the Democratic Party's national convention approaches, a recent opinion poll reveals a divided landscape for the party leadership race. Kim Min-seok leads with 24% of respondents favoring him as the next party leader, followed by Chung Jin-suk at 19% and Song Young-gil at 6%.

The survey, conducted by NBS from August 10-12 among 1,000 adults, also highlighted significant voter uncertainty, with 51% of respondents remaining undecided. This suggests a fluid race where a substantial portion of the electorate has yet to commit to a candidate.

Within the party's own base, the preference for Kim Min-seok is more pronounced, with 44% of Democratic Party supporters backing him, compared to 25% for Chung Jin-suk. Song Young-gil trails with 7% among party loyalists. The final outcome will be determined by a combination of delegate and party member votes (70%) and a public opinion poll (30%), with the latter conducted among party supporters and those without party affiliation to prevent strategic voting.
