Polytechnic colleges hold autumn workshop to share AI education innovation achievements

Polytechnic colleges in South Korea are actively adapting to the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation (DX) by holding a dedicated autumn workshop. The '2026 Polytechnic Innovation Support Project Directors Autumn Workshop,' organized by the Polytechnic Innovation Support Project Development Council, aimed to explore new directions in educational innovation to meet the demands of the AI and DX era.

Supported by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, the two-day event took place at Wyndham Grand Busan and gathered approximately 150 participants, including directors from polytechnic institutions nationwide. A key focus was sharing the major achievements of the third phase, second year of the project. The workshop featured an awards ceremony for the 'AI Utilization Education Innovation Excellence Case Contest' and the 'Polytechnic Innovation Support Project Short-form Contest.'

Presentations of award-winning cases highlighted successful applications of AI in teaching and learning, emphasizing the role of polytechnic colleges in nurturing practical talent by integrating AI into various majors and job-specific training. Institutions like Daelim University, Kangwon National University of Science and Technology, and Ulsan College shared their significant accomplishments in areas such as educational innovation, performance management, and focused digital transformation programs.

Discussions also covered the financial impact of the innovation support project on university finances, and a special lecture on 'Implementing AI Vibecoding' provided insights into applying AI technologies in educational settings. The workshop concluded with a general assembly and plans for upcoming competitions, underscoring a commitment to continuous improvement and collaboration. The council aims to further strengthen inter-university cooperation and enhance AI and DX capabilities to guide the future of higher vocational education.

For the successful promotion of the third phase of the Polytechnic Innovation Support Project, it is important to share the excellent innovation achievements of individual universities and spread them to all polytechnic colleges.
