Portable says Charles Okocha bit him during boxing rematch, leading to disqualification

Street-pop singer Portable has claimed actor Charles Okocha bit him during their celebrity boxing rematch in Lagos, leading to his disqualification. The incident occurred during the opening round of the bout, promoted as “Unfinished Business,” at the Balmoral Convention Centre. After exchanging punches, the entertainers grappled and fell, with Portable subsequently leaving the ring.

Although Portable later returned, the referee deemed he had abandoned the contest and disqualified him, awarding the victory to Okocha. This rematch was intended to settle a rivalry stemming from their first fight in December 2023, which Portable won, though Okocha disputed the result.

Portable rejected the idea of a fair defeat, asserting in videos posted on Instagram that Okocha bit him. He addressed his team, stating, “I am a star. I was bitten. As I blew him, Okocha put his hand on my back and bit me.” He also defended his participation, noting he chose Okocha as his opponent and was paid, but emphasized that biting is not acceptable in a fight.

Portable’s management issued an apology to the organizers, Balmoral Group, the event team, and supporters for his actions and departure. In a statement on Instagram by his manager, Olawale Sarah, the management acknowledged the disappointment caused by the fight’s outcome.
