Power forward Yoan Makoundou is Barça's tenth signing under Sekulic

FC Barcelona has secured its tenth signing for the upcoming season, bringing in French power forward Yoan Makoundou on a contract running until June 30, 2028.

The versatile 26-year-old, standing at 2.07 meters, arrives from AS Monaco, where he gained valuable experience in the EuroLeague. Makoundou's basketball journey includes formative years at Cholet Basket and loan spells with Buducnost Podgorica and Turk Telekom Ankara. Last season, he also had a brief stint with the Fujian Sturgeons in the Chinese league.

Described as an energetic and athletic interior player capable of operating in multiple positions, Makoundou is seen by the club as a significant addition for both the present and the future. Barcelona had previously shown interest in the player during the 2025-26 summer market, but the deal did not materialize at that time.

Makoundou's arrival bolsters coach Aleksander Sekulic's revamped squad. He joins fellow new recruits: guards Justin Robinson and Umoja Gibson, shooting guard Agustín Ubal, forwards Stanley Umude and Tyrese Martin, power forwards Tosan Evbuomwan and Olivier Nkamhoua, and centers Olek Balcerowski and Josh Nebo. The club's sporting management, led by Xevi Pujol, is reportedly working to finalize the roster with the addition of one more interior player.
