Prabowo Launches Indonesia's Nationwide B50 Biodiesel Program, Cites Energy Independence

President Prabowo Subianto launched Indonesia's nationwide B50 biodiesel program on July 9, marking a significant step toward the nation's energy independence. The program mandates a fuel blend containing 50 percent palm oil-based biodiesel, a policy Prabowo declared makes Indonesia the first country in the world to adopt it at a national scale.

With the launch of this program, Indonesia has officially become the first country in the world to implement B50 biodiesel.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in West Java, Prabowo emphasized the importance of fuel subsidies for lower-income citizens while advocating for wealthier individuals to pay market prices for non-subsidized fuel. He noted that Indonesia has received international praise for maintaining affordable fuel prices for the poor amidst global economic challenges. He humorously addressed prominent business figures, suggesting they could afford higher fuel costs, drawing laughter from the audience.

In a separate disclosure, Prabowo revealed that a recent scientific expedition in Papua's mountainous region had discovered substantial gold and mineral reserves. The expedition involved researchers from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), universities, and the Indonesian Military (TNI). While specific details on the location and quantity of the reserves were not provided, Prabowo stated that these findings bolster Indonesia's economic outlook.
