Prabowo, Modi celebrate Indonesia-India friendship at Jakarta reception

President Prabowo welcomed Prime Minister Modi, expressing gratitude for his visit and reflecting on the historical significance of Indonesia hosting India's Republic Day celebration in 2025, mirroring the first celebration in 1950 when Indonesia's first President Sukarno was the chief guest.

Prime Minister Modi reciprocated the warm sentiments, cherishing the welcome from President Prabowo and the Indonesian people. The reception concluded Prime Minister Modi's three-day state visit, which included a state welcoming ceremony at Merdeka Palace, a bilateral meeting, and a joint luncheon. The leaders oversaw the signing of 16 strategic memoranda of understanding (MoU), covering cooperation in defense, energy, health, culture, and technology. A notable agreement was between Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the Indian Space Research Organisation for space research collaboration.
