Prabowo touts government’s early wins, says Indonesia could hit 6% growth by year-end

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto presented a positive outlook on his administration's progress in his second State of the Nation address, emphasizing early successes in food and energy self-sufficiency. Speaking ahead of the nation's 81st Independence Day, Prabowo asserted that his government has tackled long-standing issues within its first 21 months, implementing 121 "transformative policies."

He expressed strong confidence that Indonesia's economy could achieve 6% growth by the end of 2026, citing a 5.61% growth in the first quarter and 5.45% in the first half of the year. The president highlighted key achievements, including reaching self-sufficiency in staples like rice, corn, and sugar, as well as implementing B50 biofuel to reduce diesel imports. This move, he noted, has saved the country up to 170 trillion rupiah (US$9.5 billion) since July 1.
