Pramuka Garuda certificates can be used to register for TNI-Polri without tests

Holders of Pramuka Garuda certificates in Indonesia may soon find a direct path into the military and police forces. Budi Waseso, the head of the National Scout Movement (Kwarnas), announced that these certificates can serve as a qualification for recruitment into the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) without requiring entrance examinations.

This new policy is a result of a collaborative effort between the Scout Movement and various institutions, including the TNI, Polri, and several universities. Waseso expressed hope that this initiative will invigorate young Indonesians' engagement with scouting activities. He explained that eligible Pramuka Garuda recipients from the "Penegak" level can directly enter the police force or TNI without undergoing the usual selection tests, a system that is already in place.

Waseso emphasized that the recruitment mechanism through the Pramuka Garuda pathway has been refined to align with the rules and procedures of each respective institution. He believes the certificate serves as tangible proof of scouting's crucial role in shaping the character of young people and acts as a valuable tool for identifying promising individuals from all regions.

Despite some skepticism about the relevance of scouting, Waseso asserted that the movement remains highly pertinent to current educational needs. He highlighted that scouting teaches essential skills such as leadership, discipline, and character development, making it a valuable asset for students from elementary to university levels. The program, he added, is still a mandatory component for students across various educational stages.
