President-elect condemns murder of pregnant woman, baby missing in Cali

President-elect Abelardo de la Espriella has condemned the "aberrant crime" of María Camila Potosí, a 21-year-old woman murdered in Cali, whose unborn baby is still missing. The case has deeply shocked Colombia since the discovery of Potosí's body on July 20, four days after she disappeared.

Alba Rubí Gómez, Potosí's mother, revealed the horrifying detail that her daughter's body was found without the baby she was carrying. "When we found her, she swore she had her baby in her womb. When we went to collect her body... I asked about the baby... but when I insisted, they told me that unfortunately, the baby was not with her," Gómez told local media.

A prosecutor later confirmed the news to Gómez, describing it as "shocking." The authorities in Cali have increased the reward for information leading to the perpetrators to 200 million pesos (approximately $48,000). No arrests have been made, but several individuals, including the victim's ex-partner, are considered persons of interest in the ongoing investigation.
