President Erdoğan sends condolences for former Emir of Qatar

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has issued a message of condolence following the death of Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the former Emir of Qatar. Erdoğan expressed his deep sorrow upon learning of the passing of his "very dear friend," referred to as the "Father Emir" of the State of Qatar.

I learned with great sadness of the passing of my very dear friend, the Father Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

In his statement, shared on social media, Erdoğan highlighted Al Thani's substantial role during his own premiership in fostering close collaboration on the international stage. He specifically credited the former Emir with making significant contributions to the current level of political, commercial, military, humanitarian, and cultural relations between Turkey and Qatar.

Erdoğan also acknowledged Al Thani's sincere efforts towards promoting peace within the Islamic world, stability in the region, and prosperity for the people of Qatar. He extended his wishes for divine mercy upon the deceased former Emir on behalf of himself, his family, and the Turkish nation.

Condolences were also conveyed to the current Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, whom Erdoğan referred to as his "dear brother." The message extended sympathies to the family of the late Father Emir, the friendly people of Qatar, and the broader Islamic world.
