President Lee's Approval Rating Recovers to 50%, But Confidence in Governance Hits Record Low

President Lee's approval rating has seen a modest recovery, reaching 50% in a recent national poll, a slight increase from the 49% recorded in the previous survey. This marks a rebound after his approval dipped below 50% for the first time since taking office. However, this positive trend in personal approval is contrasted by a significant decline in public confidence regarding the administration's overall direction.

Confidence in the government's trajectory has fallen to 48%, its lowest point since President Lee assumed office. This figure represents a 4-percentage-point decrease from the prior poll. Conversely, the percentage of respondents who believe the government is heading in the wrong direction has risen by 5 percentage points to 45%. While these figures remain within the margin of error, the trend indicates growing public concern about the administration's policy path.

The poll, conducted by Embrain Public, Kstat Research, Korea Research, and Korea Research between August 24th and 26th, surveyed 1,001 adults nationwide. The margin of error for the survey is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level. The findings suggest a complex public sentiment, with a divided electorate showing continued support for the president personally, but increasing skepticism about the effectiveness and direction of his governance.
