President Lee to hold first-anniversary press conference, outline vision for second year

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung is set to hold a press conference on June 8 to commemorate his first year in office and present his national vision and four key objectives for his second year. The Presidential Office announced that the event will take place at the Yongbin Hall in the Blue House at 10 a.m., with approximately 160 domestic and foreign journalists in attendance.

The president's slogan for the event, 'An Irreplaceable Republic of Korea,' encapsulates the administration's ambition to elevate the nation to a globally recognized and indispensable country.

The press conference is designed to be an open forum, with questions and answers flowing freely based on the moderator's and the president's direction, rather than a predetermined script. Notably, two university student journalists will participate, posing questions that reflect the concerns and challenges facing the younger generation. The chosen slogan for the event, 'An Irreplaceable Republic of Korea,' encapsulates the administration's ambition to elevate the nation to a globally recognized and indispensable country.

To mark the first anniversary, the Blue House released statistics detailing President Lee's activities over the past year. He traveled over 22,929 kilometers within South Korea, equivalent to more than half the Earth's circumference, engaging in on-site communication through 12 town hall events across 14 provinces, which saw participation from over 3,500 residents. He also visited traditional markets 24 times.

In terms of foreign policy, President Lee undertook 14 state visits, covering a distance of 150,000 kilometers, or 3.8 times the Earth's circumference. He held 39 phone calls with heads of state and met with 26 foreign political and business figures. Senior Blue House Spokesperson Kang Yoo-jung stated that President Lee's active engagement, both domestically and internationally, has helped normalize the country and re-establish its presence on the global stage.
