President Prabowo praises IPDN recruitment, citing meritocracy in action

President Prabowo Subianto lauded the recruitment system for the Institute of Domestic Governance (IPDN), stating it reflects a merit-based selection process that offers equal opportunities to all citizens. During the graduation ceremony for the XXXIII class of 2026, Prabowo shared a report from the Minister of Home Affairs indicating that the top 10 graduates this year hail from economically disadvantaged families. "I received a report from the Minister of Home Affairs before coming to the podium. 'Mr. President, the ten best graduates of this class all come from very simple families.' I was told some are children of laborers, some are children of farmers, and if from the TNI, children of non-commissioned officers," he said.

He stressed that Indonesia's leadership must comprise its most capable individuals, chosen through meritocracy, where talent, dedication, and achievement pave the way for advancement. The president pointed to Aji Bayu Ramadhan from East Nusa Tenggara, a graduate of IPDN's XXXIII class and son of a construction worker and a homemaker, as an example of success, having received the Kartika Astha Brata award as the best graduate.
