President Prabowo Removes Nutrition Agency Head to Bolster Program Transparency

President Prabowo Subianto has removed the head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) as part of an effort to strengthen transparency and accountability within the government's Free Nutritious Meal Program. Presidential Chief of Staff Dudung Abdurachman announced the dismissal, stating it was a necessary step following an in-depth evaluation of the program. The move aims to ensure the program, which prioritizes improving the nutritional quality for the public, especially schoolchildren, operates without corruption. "The President wants everything to run perfectly without any deviations," Abdurachman said. This decision comes shortly after the Attorney General's Office conducted a search of the BGN offices. Abdurachman emphasized that the focus extends beyond food distribution to encompass the overall governance and management systems supporting the program. He noted that inspections had revealed disparities in implementation, despite many aspects functioning well. The Presidential Staff Office pledged to continue monitoring the Free Nutritious Meal Program objectively to support national nutrition targets and maintain public trust in the use of state funds.
