President Prabowo to attend National Cooperatives Day, affirming economic commitment

President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to deliver remarks at the main event celebrating the 79th National Cooperatives Day on Sunday, July 12, 2026. The ceremony will take place at the Indonesia Arena within the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex in Jakarta.

Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono stated that President Prabowo's attendance underscores the government's dedication to bolstering the cooperative movement. He emphasized that cooperatives are a vital pillar of national economic development. "July 12, God willing, the President will be present to commemorate National Cooperatives Day at GBK," Ferry said on Friday, July 10, 2026, as reported by Antara.

The event also signifies the commencement of the 'red and white' village/sub-district cooperative (KDKMP) movement. This initiative is a strategic government program mandated by Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2025, which aims to accelerate the establishment, development, and revitalization of 80,000 cooperatives across Indonesia in stages.

Minister Ferry reported that approximately 30,000 'red and white' cooperatives have already been established. The government's target is to reach around 40,000 units by the end of the current year.
