President Prabowo to Open Indonesian Muslims Congress

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is set to inaugurate the 8th Congress of Indonesian Muslims (KUII VIII) on Friday afternoon, July 24. The five-yearly event, initiated by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), is expected to bring together approximately 87 Islamic organizations from across the archipelago for a significant consolidation. Held over three days at the Bidakara Hotel in Jakarta, the congress is more than just a ceremonial gathering. It is designed as a space for critical and strategic dialogue, intended to generate tangible ideas and contributions for the government. Kiai Marsudi Syuhud, Vice Chairman of MUI and Chairman of the Steering Committee, highlighted that the congress aims to foster national resilience by addressing contemporary challenges. He noted that ministers, heads of state institutions, law enforcement officials, and academics will participate in the plenary sessions. Syuhud emphasized that constructive criticism is a normal part of such forums and expressed hope that the congress's outcomes would significantly benefit the nation and its people.
