President Prabowo to Visit NTT Earthquake Zone Soon

President Prabowo Subianto is preparing for an upcoming visit to the earthquake-stricken region of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, confirmed that preparations are in progress, stating, "It is being prepared and God willing, he will go there soon." However, he could not provide a definite date for the visit, adding, "We will inform you later."

The 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck NTT on August 15, 2026, prompting a tsunami early warning that was later lifted. The quake caused significant disruption, with landslides blocking the Trans Flores highway and hindering the delivery of aid and mobility for affected residents. The government has pledged to provide the best possible emergency response.

President Prabowo had previously stated his commitment to ensuring swift and maximum emergency aid for the affected population. He instructed cross-sectoral cooperation to expedite post-earthquake handling and urged relevant agencies to assess the situation on the ground directly. The President emphasized the government's goal to provide fast and targeted post-disaster assistance.
