President Prabowo visits Jakarta school, joins students for free meals

President Prabowo Subianto visited SMPN 111 Jakarta on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, to personally inspect the implementation of the government's free nutritious meal program. The visit, funded by the state budget, aimed to verify that the program is functioning effectively and benefiting students.

During his visit, Prabowo entered several classrooms to observe students enjoying the provided meals. He even sat down to eat with them in one classroom. In other classes, he engaged with students, inquiring about their opinions on the program and their future aspirations, prompting many to raise their hands and share their dreams of becoming doctors, engineers, teachers, or athletes.

The interaction between the President and the students was reportedly filled with laughter, creating a relaxed atmosphere. The group also sang the "Hymne Guru" (Teacher's Anthem) together. This visit to SMPN 111 was part of a broader inspection that also included a visit to the kitchen facility preparing the meals in Palmerah, Jakarta.

At the Palmerah facility, Prabowo was welcomed by the Head of the National Nutrition Agency and the head of the kitchen unit. His presence there was intended to ensure that the facilities, operational systems, and supply chain for the free meal program meet established standards.
