President's Son Visited Jokowi in Solo for New Year's Greeting, Minister Says

Didit Prabowo, son of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, visited former President Joko Widodo at his residence in Solo, Central Java, on Thursday, June 18, 2026. The visit was described by State Secretary Prasetio Hadi as a New Year's greeting for 1448 Hijriah, the Islamic New Year, which fell on June 16, 2026.

Hadi, a politician from the Gerindra Party, stated that Didit happened to be in Solo and decided to visit Jokowi. "It was a coincidence because he was in Solo, and it was 1 Muharram, so it was a greeting," Hadi said on Friday, June 19, 2026, in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java.

The State Secretary also clarified that President Prabowo did not entrust any messages for Jokowi to his son. "There were none," the former member of the House of Representatives stated.

Didit himself reportedly mentioned that he was in Solo to attend the "Malam 1 Suro" event at Mangkunegaran and visited Jokowi's house afterward. The 1 Suro commemoration, a traditional Javanese new year celebration, is closely linked to the Islamic New Year and involves spiritual and cultural rituals at the Surakarta Palace.
