President Sheinbaum Inaugurates New Naval Hospital in Yucatán, Expands Healthcare Access

In a significant development for healthcare infrastructure in the Yucatán Peninsula, President Claudia Sheinbaum has officially inaugurated the new General Naval Hospital in Yukalpetén. This state-of-the-art facility represents a major investment in the region's medical capabilities and underscores the government's commitment to enhancing public health services. The inauguration marks a pivotal moment, not only for the local community but also for the broader national healthcare agenda.

Accompanying the inauguration of the new hospital was the ceremonial handover of the Old Naval Hospital to the ISSSTE. This transition is expected to expand the reach and accessibility of healthcare services for state workers and their families, integrating the facility into the national social security system. President Sheinbaum highlighted Yucatán's entry into the IMSS-Bienestar program on May 17th, a move that promises universal and free healthcare services for the state's residents. This integration is a key component of the administration's strategy to strengthen the public healthcare network across Mexico.

Naval sailors protect our seas, assist the population in disasters and carry out high-risk missions. Therefore, investing in naval health is also strengthening the operational capacity, resilience and response of our Navy.

Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles, Secretary of the Navy, lauded the efforts of naval personnel and reaffirmed the commitment to serving the Mexican people. He emphasized that investing in naval healthcare strengthens the operational capacity and resilience of the Mexican Navy. The new hospital is equipped with advanced medical technology, including 30 census beds, 18 non-census beds, modern operating rooms, an intensive care unit, specialized emergency areas, and 16 medical specialties. This comprehensive infrastructure ensures that the facility can provide high-quality care and respond effectively to diverse medical needs, reinforcing Mexico's capacity to protect the health and dignity of its citizens.
