President Bola Tinubu has conveyed his profound sadness following a devastating boat accident in the Gorau Community of Goronyo Local Government Area in Sokoto State, Nigeria. The incident claimed numerous lives and left others missing, prompting a strong expression of grief from the President.

"The news of this boat mishap deeply saddens me," President Tinubu stated in a message released by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who perished and to the government and people of Sokoto State, acknowledging the profound tragedy. "My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families during this difficult time. I pray that God grants the departed eternal rest and gives their loved ones the strength to bear this irreparable loss," he added.

President Tinubu commended the swift response of emergency responders and local authorities in their rescue and recovery operations. He directed key federal agencies, including the National Inland Waterways Authority and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), to work closely with the Sokoto State Government.
