President warns Free Nutritious Meal program partners against enriching individuals

President Prabowo Subianto has issued a stern warning to partners involved in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, urging them to execute the initiative responsibly and not exploit it for personal gain. Speaking at a national consolidation meeting for the MBG program in Bogor, West Java, the President emphasized that food security is a sacred matter and should not become a vehicle for corruption.

"The issue of food is a sacred issue. Food for the less fortunate must not become a means to enrich certain individuals. Food is the easiest thing to corrupt," President Prabowo stated. He highlighted the critical role of the MBG program in ensuring adequate nutrition for Indonesian children and combating stunting, noting that some regions still face high rates of malnutrition, with over 20% and even close to 30% of children affected.

To ensure the program's integrity, the government is enhancing oversight mechanisms. This includes the potential addition of personnel from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), and the Attorney General's Office. "Law enforcement must be strengthened. Because I do not want the Republic of Indonesia to be insulted, I do not want the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to be disrespected. I do not want the people's money to be stolen, and there will be no exceptions," the President declared.

President Prabowo reiterated that the MBG program, managed by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), is a mandate that must be carried out with full responsibility to ensure its benefits reach the community. He praised the dedication of all officers and partners, including those working in challenging geographical areas. "Feeding people is a noble task for us, and it must succeed, it will succeed. You are an important part. But if you don't want to work well, you have to step aside. If you don't work well, if you don't want to, please step aside. The people's interests are above all interests," he asserted. The national consolidation event gathered approximately 12,173 participants and 5,873 partners involved in the MBG program across Indonesia.
