Presidential media team inspects federal, state projects in Abia

A high-powered Presidential Media Team, part of the Renewed Hope National Media Tour, arrived in Abia State to inspect federal and state government projects. The tour aims to showcase development initiatives across Nigeria under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration and various state governments.

Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu briefed journalists following a State Executive Council meeting. He emphasized the "very cordial relationship" between the state and federal governments, which has facilitated partnerships on key projects like the airport and the Renewed Hope Housing Estate. The media team's visit is considered timely, aligning with the administration's focus on visible development.

This is a relationship that has led to partnerships between the state and Federal Government, as reflected in projects such as the airport project and the recently flagged-off Renewed Hope Housing Estate project.

The team will tour various parts of the state, examining road projects and other development initiatives in all 17 local government areas. The visit is scheduled to conclude with a civic reception hosted by Governor Alex Otti. Kanu also announced the full commencement of operations at the ultra-modern bus terminal in Umuahia, detailing a phased relocation process for transport operators, including the Abia Green Shuttle buses and informal and formal transport operators.

There appears to be some pushback among some operators, and this is a result of the fact that people are not always willing to embrace change easily.

Despite initial reluctance from some operators to embrace the transition to the new terminal, Kanu stated that enforcement would begin to ensure full compliance. He reiterated the state government's commitment to improving the road network, underscoring that "transformative work in road infrastructure continues" despite existing achievements.
