Prime Minister Bolojan photographed with passengers at Oradea Airport

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan visited Oradea Airport on Sunday to mark the launch of new Wizz Air services to Rome Fiumicino and Dortmund. Local publication Bihoreanul reported that Bolojan spoke with Oradea Mayor Florin Birta and Airport Director Răzvan Horga after a flight from Rome landed. Several passengers approached the prime minister for photographs and handshakes.

Bolojan then joined the queue for a flight to Bucharest, accompanied by two security agents. Mayor Birta explained that the prime minister's attendance was a fortunate coincidence, aligning with the inauguration of the new routes and his departure for the capital. Birta noted the significance of the event, crediting Bolojan and Mircea Jurca for initiating efforts to establish new flight connections for Bihor County and Oradea.

I am glad that these two new destinations started today coincided with the departure of a plane to Bucharest and we had among us Mr. Bolojan and Mr. Mihai Jurca, who practically were the ones who started the construction of this phenomenon of bringing new flights to Bihor County and the municipality of Oradea.

Addressing recent criticisms regarding the airport's financial support, raised by interim PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu, Birta projected that Oradea Airport could exceed 300,000 passengers this year. He also mentioned that the flight to Milan Bergamo already boasts an occupancy rate of over 90%. The new routes to Rome and Dortmund will operate twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Sundays. Mircea Mălan, President of the Bihor County Council, urged the public to utilize these new services, stating that passenger volume will influence the introduction of future destinations.
