Prison Fire in Matosinhos Leaves One Inmate Injured

A minor fire incident at the Estabelecimento Prisional de Santa Cruz do Bispo in Matosinhos has been contained, with only one inmate suffering minor injuries. The event, which occurred on a Thursday evening, prompted a swift response from the local fire department, Bombeiros de Matosinhos-Leça.

While the circumstances surrounding the fire remain unclear, the rapid response ensured the blaze was extinguished within approximately half an hour. The injured inmate was promptly taken to the Hospital Pedro Hispano for treatment. The GNR (Guarda Nacional Republicana) was also present at the scene, indicating the seriousness with which such incidents within correctional facilities are treated.
