Priyanka, Jayadhanyha star as Oman crush Saudi Arabia by 10 wickets

Priyanka Mendonca's exceptional bowling performance, including a career-best 5/8, led Oman to a commanding 10-wicket victory over Saudi Arabia in the ACC Women's T20I Premier Cup. The win, achieved on Saturday at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval in Bangi, Malaysia, significantly strengthens Oman's position in Group B.

Priyanka Mendonca produced a superb bowling performance (5/8) before Jayadhanyha Gunasekar blasted an unbeaten 31 as Oman registered a commanding 10-wicket victory over Saudi Arabia.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Oman's bowlers were relentless. Saudi Arabia struggled, collapsing to 38 all out in 13.4 overs. Mendonca was the chief destroyer, taking five wickets, while Jayadhanyha Gunasekar and Fiza Javed also contributed with two wickets each. No Saudi batter reached double figures, with Najwa Akram top-scoring with eight runs.

Saudi Arabia never recovered from the early loss of captain Mashael Waqas and were bundled out for just 38 in 13.4 overs.

Chasing a modest target of 39, Oman's openers made short work of the chase. Jayadhanyha Gunasekar smashed an unbeaten 31 off just 14 deliveries, including two fours and two sixes, to guide Oman to victory in a mere 3.2 overs. Nitya Joshi remained unbeaten on six as Oman sealed the win with 100 balls to spare.

Left-arm medium pacer Priyanka led the charge with a career-best spell of five wickets for runs from four overs, removing five of the top six batters.

The comprehensive victory not only marked Oman's second win in the group, following an earlier triumph against China, but also provided a crucial boost to their net run rate. This sets them up well for their final group match against the Philippines on Sunday, where a win will secure their spot in the knockout stage.

Jayadhanyha provided excellent support with 2 for 6, while Fiza Javed claimed 2 for 2 as no Saudi Arabia batter could register a double digit score.
