Procession in Riga to honor Ukraine's Independence Day

Riga will host a procession on Ukraine's Independence Day to demonstrate solidarity with the Ukrainian people. The event, organized by the "Tavi draugi" (Your Friends) association, marks the fifth year of the "Sunflower Path" march.

The procession is scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM with participants gathering at the Freedom Monument. At 6:00 PM, the march will proceed to Kronvalda Park, where a flower-laying ceremony will take place at the monument to Taras Shevchenko.

Throughout the day, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, a "Tavi draugi" donation point will be active in Brīvības Square. Residents are encouraged to contribute essential items for Ukrainian soldiers and civilians. Needed items include tea, three-in-one coffee, sweets, nuts, dried fruits, instant food, canned meat and fish, hygiene products, and men's clothing such as socks, underwear, t-shirts, and tracksuits.

Participants in the march are invited to bring sunflowers and display Ukrainian and Latvian symbols, further emphasizing the theme of support and unity.
