Project Nigeria positively despite challenges, Dabiri-Erewa urges diaspora

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman and CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has called on Nigerians living abroad to shift their focus from solely negative narratives and instead actively promote the country's achievements and positive global image. Speaking during a visit to the United Kingdom, Dabiri-Erewa emphasized that while Nigeria faces challenges, its citizens overseas should celebrate the nation's success stories and the significant positive impact Nigerians continue to have worldwide.

The NiDCOM chief noted that the Federal Government is implementing reforms and infrastructure projects aimed at fostering sustainable growth and repositioning the country.

During her visit, Dabiri-Erewa highlighted the achievements of Nigerians in the UK, including Councillor Christopher Adegoke's historic appointment as the first person from an ethnic minority background to chair Nottinghamshire County Council since its establishment in 1889. She also congratulated Councillor Rosaline Oguro on her inauguration as Mayor of Islington, viewing these accomplishments as testaments to the excellence, resilience, and leadership qualities of Nigerians in the diaspora.

Furthermore, Dabiri-Erewa celebrated the academic successes of two Nigerian medical graduates: Dorcas Akanbi, who achieved a 4.90/5.00 CGPA from Rostov State Medical University in Russia, and Dr. Monilola Adeshina, who graduated as valedictorian from the Medical University of Silesia in Poland. These feats, she stated, showcase the brilliance and global competitiveness of Nigerian youth, significantly enhancing the country's international image.
