PromiseLand to launch ProTaxi on October 1 as Nigeria’s e-hailing market gains a new player

PromiseLand Innovations is bringing a new ride-hailing platform to Nigeria on October 1, 2026, with ProTaxi built around a simple pitch: cheaper, safer and more environmentally responsible movement through the country’s cities.

Chief Executive Lawrence Oloche described ProTaxi as a homegrown platform connecting passengers with drivers. The company is placing particular emphasis on electric vehicles, saying their use could lower drivers’ operating costs and eventually make fares more affordable for passengers.

Passengers will be able to book rides through the application and connect with available drivers nearby. The platform will include personalised location services, several payment options, trip details and access to driver receipts. Safety tools include driver verification, live tracking, ratings and reviews. Riders can also share their live location with relatives and friends so others can follow the journey in real time.

Drivers will have control over when they work. They can operate full-time or select particular hours, giving them flexible ways to earn through the platform. PromiseLand says its longer-term ambition is to build one of Africa’s leading environmentally friendly ride-hailing services by promoting affordable transport and clean energy.

The company, owned by Ambassador Lawrence Oloche, already operates in real estate and is pursuing the development of 100,000 homes across Nigeria, beginning in the Federal Capital Territory. ProTaxi extends those business interests from housing into mobility, as rising transport and vehicle costs create an opening for locally developed alternatives. “We believe getting around should be easy, affordable and environmentally responsible,” the company said.
