Promoter estimates loss after boxing withdrawals

Kings Boxing Promotion promoter Nahroon Buksh faces substantial financial setbacks and is contemplating legal action following the unexpected withdrawals of two Indian boxers from a highly anticipated event in Fiji. The promoter expressed deep frustration, stating that the withdrawals have caused significant financial losses and damaged the event's prospects. The initial blow came with the withdrawal of boxer Rohit Chauhan, who was slated to face local talent Mikaele Ravalaca. Buksh alleges he was not adequately informed of Chauhan's decision before the boxer traveled, leading to a breach of trust and incurred costs.

Further complicating matters, a replacement opponent, Digari Mahesh, was secured from India with travel and contractual arrangements finalized. However, Mahesh also failed to arrive for the event, despite reportedly reaching the airport. Buksh stated that airfare and contracts were paid for Mahesh, adding another layer of financial strain and disappointment. "I had paid his airfare and signed his contract. He was supposed to come. I was told he was at the airport, but he didn’t board the plane," Buksh explained, highlighting the extent of the logistical and financial mismanagement he experienced.

These dual withdrawals have dealt a severe blow to the promotion, particularly as Ravalaca had attracted the attention of an American boxing scout. The promoter estimates the total cost of staging the event at approximately $120,000 and anticipates a loss of at least half that amount, around $60,000. Despite these significant challenges, Ravalaca is still expected to compete on the card, facing four local boxers in short, two-round bouts. The event is scheduled to proceed at the Vodafone Arena and will be available via pay-per-view.
