Prosecutor files statement against suspect in killing of attorney Arbel Feldman

Prosecutors have filed a statement against the suspect accused of fatally shooting attorney Arbel Feldman in his Rishon Lezion office earlier this month, moving the case closer to a formal indictment. Police announced Tuesday that the Central District Attorney's Office filed the statement after completing their investigation into the August 4 killing.

A prosecutor's statement is a formal notification to the court that prosecutors intend to file charges and require a brief period to prepare them. Police anticipate a serious indictment will be filed in the coming days, accompanied by a request to keep the suspect detained until the conclusion of the proceedings. The suspect, described as an Ashdod resident in his 20s, has been in custody since his arrest, with his detention extended multiple times during the investigation.

Investigators are reportedly examining a dispute over compensation from a personal-injury case, in which Feldman represented the suspect, as a potential motive for the murder. The investigation began after an emergency call reported gunfire at Feldman's office on Moshe Levy Street. Responding officers found Feldman, a father of three and Rishon Lezion resident, pronounced dead at the scene.

Police determined that the suspect, who knew Feldman, arrived at the lawyer's office and shot him multiple times during their meeting before fleeing. A manhunt involving multiple police districts was launched, utilizing operational, intelligence, and technological resources to track the suspect's escape route. The suspect eventually surrendered to authorities. Evidence, including surveillance footage, was collected from the office, and forensic analysis was conducted before the case was transferred to prosecutors.
