Prosecutors seek prison for ‘high-end dealer’ arrested with VIP drug stash in Ciudad del Este

Prosecutors have charged a 33-year-old man known to investigators as a “high-end dealer” after allegedly finding a large stash of drugs at a property in Ciudad del Este. Prosecutor Luis Fernando Escobar also asked the court to order Erwin Javier Bogado Vera’s pretrial detention.

The suspect was arrested last Thursday at about 7:45 p.m. at a property in Area 2. A team from the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the National Police Anti-Narcotics Department intervened after receiving anonymous reports that drugs were allegedly being stored and sold there.

During the search, officers seized 140 grams of suspected marijuana, 53.55 grams of suspected cocaine, 41.15 grams of suspected MDMA, 252 grams of suspected ecstasy in 465 tablets, and 46.30 grams of suspected Tusi. A field narcotics test returned positive results for the marijuana and cocaine samples, while the other substances were identified preliminarily.

The prosecution cited the police request for the search, the fiscal-police operation report, the weighing and preliminary field-analysis record, and another police communication as evidence supporting the case. The seized material was transferred to the vault of the Anti-Narcotics Department’s Regional Division No. 10. Bogado Vera remains in custody at the disposal of the courts.
