Prosecutors seize Lamborghini and other assets in Indonesian mining corruption case

Prosecutors in Indonesia have seized a fleet of luxury vehicles and other assets as part of an investigation into alleged corruption related to mining permits in West Kalimantan. The probe focuses on Sudianto, widely known as Aseng, the beneficial owner of PT Quality Sukses Sejahtera (QSS), who is accused of exploiting mining concessions between 2017 and 2025.

Among the seized items is a 2022 Lamborghini Aventador, along with a Toyota Fortuner and a Toyota Camry. The investigators also confiscated 46 dump trucks, 10 excavators, two bulldozers, and various other mining vehicles. Additionally, four plots of land with buildings and two empty plots in Pontianak were seized. The Attorney General's Office stated that these seizures are part of a broader search of locations linked to Aseng and his affiliates.

Aseng is suspected of illegally mining bauxite and exporting the minerals from areas outside PT QSS's designated mining area. Prosecutors allege that between 2020 and 2024, Aseng used export approval documents that were issued without proper verification. This alleged practice was reportedly carried out with the involvement of state officials. Furthermore, PT QSS allegedly operated without a smelter, a facility required for processing mined materials and a prerequisite for obtaining export permits.

Investigators have identified Aseng as the controller of the mining activities and believe his actions have resulted in significant financial losses for the state. He was officially named a suspect on May 21, 2026. The investigation is ongoing, with prosecutors working to uncover the full extent of the alleged corruption and recover state assets.
