Prosegur Crypto Launched the First Tokenized Gold Purchase Platform in Argentina

Prosegur Crypto has introduced Prosegur Digital Gold in Argentina, marking the launch of the country's first platform for buying tokenized gold. This innovative service allows users to purchase gold represented in a digital format, with each token fully backed by physical gold securely stored by Prosegur.

The platform provides a comprehensive solution, integrating asset custody, commercialization, tokenization, and liquidity. This aims to make gold accessible to a broader audience in a simple, secure, and entirely digital manner. Each token corresponds to one gram of certified physical gold of the highest purity, stored in high-security facilities and subject to regular audits. Transactions are recorded on a blockchain, ensuring traceability and verification.

José Ángel Fernández Freire, Prosegur Cash's Corporate Director of Innovation and CEO of Prosegur Crypto, stated that Prosegur Digital Gold advances how a traditionally physical asset adapts to digital dynamics without compromising security. "Our goal is to bring gold closer to more people, combining the solidity of the physical world with the efficiency and accessibility of technology," he said.

The development was a collaboration with Minos Global, a firm specializing in distributed ledger technologies. Prosegur Digital Gold has already been implemented in Spain as part of an international expansion plan. The launch coincides with Argentina's evolving regulatory framework for virtual assets, which includes new requirements for digital asset service providers, overseen by the National Securities Commission (CNV).
