Protests erupt over potential Afghanistan deportation flight from Leipzig

An anti-racist alliance in Leipzig is organizing protests against a potential deportation flight to Afghanistan, expected to depart from Leipzig/Halle Airport in the early hours of Tuesday.

These deportations can only take place due to the dirty backroom deals of the federal government with the Taliban.

Activists accuse the German federal government of engaging in "dirty backroom deals" with the Taliban to facilitate these deportations. They argue that any cooperation with the Taliban, which they describe as "inhumane and misogynistic," must cease immediately. The alliance pointed out the contradiction of condemning Islamist violence while the government supports the Taliban through such agreements.

Saxony's Interior Minister, Armin Schuster of the CDU party, has publicly supported expanded deportation measures. He stated that while the focus had previously been on serious offenders, the scope would now broaden to include all criminals and individuals facing deportation orders who have not demonstrated integration efforts, are reliant on social welfare, or have not cooperated with identity verification.

Leipzig/Halle Airport has previously been a departure point for several deportation flights to Afghanistan. Official confirmation of the planned flight had not yet been provided by authorities at the time of reporting. The protests are scheduled to take place at the Leipzig Airport S-Bahn station and later in the city center.

We have so far concentrated on serious offenders, but will now expand the circle to all offenders as well as those obliged to leave who have so far shown no integration effort, are in social relation or do not cooperate with identity clarification.
