PSG Lose to Monaco as Luis Enrique Extends Contract Through 2030

Paris Saint-Germain marked Luis Enrique’s renewal through 2030 with a defeat. Monaco won 2-1 at the Parc des Princes, leaving the French champions without a Ligue 1 victory after three matches.

PSG took the lead in the 31st minute. Fabián Ruiz threaded a pass to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, whose left-footed cross found Marquinhos for the opening goal. The advantage did not survive the second half.

Monaco equalized in the 58th minute through Nazinho, assisted by Jordan Teze. Fourteen minutes later, Stanis Idumbo Muzambo put the visitors ahead after Aleksandr Golovin set him up.

The result came on the same day PSG announced new contracts for Luis Enrique, William Pacho, João Neves and Fabián Ruiz. Lucas Beraldo and Senny Mayulu also extended their deals. Ruiz’s contract runs through 2028, while the other renewed players signed through 2030.

PSG have not won since beating Aston Villa 2-1 on Aug. 12 to claim the UEFA Super Cup. They then lost to Lens and drew with Rennes and Lille. Their next match is against Slovan Bratislava on Sept. 9, the first of eight league-phase games in the Champions League, which PSG won in both 2025 and 2026.
