PSG sign France defender Digne on three-year contract

Paris Saint-Germain has secured the return of French international defender Lucas Digne, signing him from Aston Villa on a deal running until 2029. The move marks a homecoming for Digne, who previously played for the Ligue 1 champions between 2013 and 2015.

During his first stint at PSG, Digne was part of the squad that claimed two Ligue 1 titles, a French Cup, and two League Cups. His return comes after an 11-year absence, during which he has developed into a seasoned international defender. Financial details were not disclosed, but reports suggest PSG activated an 8.5 million pound release clause.

Digne expressed his honor at returning to Paris, stating, "I am very honoured to be returning to Paris St Germain following the wonderful experience I had here more than 10 years ago. I cannot wait to start this new chapter and put all my experience at the service of the team."

His career path includes spells at Lille, Barcelona, Everton, and most recently Aston Villa. At Barcelona, he won a La Liga title and two Copa del Rey trophies. With Aston Villa, he became a key player and helped the club win the Europa League in 2026. A France international since 2014, Digne has earned 64 caps and represented his country at two World Cups, reaching the semi-finals in 2026.
