Psy's iconic music video "Gangnam Style" has achieved a historic milestone, becoming the first K-pop music video to surpass 6 billion views on YouTube. The viral sensation reached this unprecedented number on July 17, approximately 14 years after its initial upload on July 15, 2012.

Released over a decade ago, "Gangnam Style" took the world by storm with its catchy tune and memorable horse-riding dance. It shattered previous records by becoming the first YouTube video to reach 1 billion views in December 2012. The song also made significant waves on music charts, holding the second position on the Billboard Main Singles Chart "Hot 100" for seven consecutive weeks, marking a pivotal moment for K-pop's global expansion.

The music video continued its upward trajectory, surpassing 5 billion views on December 30, 2023. In just over two and a half years since then, it has added another billion views to its impressive tally.

Psy, currently on his "PSY SUMMER SWAG 2026" tour, celebrated the 6 billion view mark with his fans. During a concert in Gwacheon on July 18, he appeared on stage wearing the same light blue jacket and black bow tie he sported in the "Gangnam Style" music video, sharing the celebratory moment with the audience.
