PT-linked foundation launches book on 10th anniversary of Dilma Rousseff's impeachment

The Perseu Abramo Foundation, closely associated with Brazil's Workers' Party (PT), is set to release a digital book on Monday, August 31st, to mark the tenth anniversary of the impeachment of former President Dilma Rousseff.

The publication, titled "The 2016 coup: origins, mechanisms and consequences," is a collaboration with Hucitec Publishing House. It compiles 16 articles that delve into the impeachment episode, examining its origins, the processes involved, and its lasting effects. The book also analyzes events that preceded Rousseff's removal from office, such as the June 2013 protests.

Contributors to the book include researchers, academics, journalists, and activists. The work is curated by Eleonora Menicucci, a former Minister of Women's Policies, alongside professors Lincoln Secco of the University of São Paulo (USP) and Ramatis Jacino of the Federal University of the ABC (UFABC) and Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp).

Dilma Rousseff was initially suspended from office in May 2016 following votes in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, and was definitively removed in August of the same year. The Workers' Party has never accepted the impeachment proceedings, consistently labeling it a "coup."
