PTDF assures transparency in overseas scholarship selection process

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is demonstrating its unwavering commitment to transparency and meritocracy through the ongoing interviews for its prestigious Overseas Scholarship Scheme. This rigorous selection process, currently underway at the University of Ibadan, is being meticulously monitored by officials from the Federal Character Commission, ensuring that equity, justice, and fairness prevail across all geopolitical zones.

Officials like Abdulwasiu Bawa-Allah, a Federal Commissioner representing Lagos State, have publicly affirmed PTDF's adherence to the Federal Character principle. He emphasized that the entire process, from candidate shortlisting to the interview conduct, has been transparent and structured to prevent political interference, guaranteeing that only qualified candidates selected on merit will emerge.

The Overseas Scholarship Scheme remains a cornerstone of Nigeria's capacity development strategy in the vital oil and gas sector. The selection process is comprehensive, beginning with public advertisements, followed by computer-based screening and academic reviews by seasoned professors, culminating in interviews. This year, approximately 38,000 applications were received nationwide, with over 6,000 candidates shortlisted for interviews, underscoring the scheme's competitiveness and its focus on identifying top talent.
