Pukkelpop festival celebrates fantastic 41st edition: 'Party everywhere'

The 41st edition of the Pukkelpop festival concluded with organizers hailing it as a "fantastic" success, with crowds of 66,000 people attending each day. Despite initial forecasts predicting poor weather, the festival largely enjoyed pleasant conditions, with only a few brief showers. This year's event was also noted for being unusually calm, with the medical aid station reporting fewer incidents than in previous years. "It was remarkably calmer than other years," stated Pieter Jan Van Asbroeck, medical coordinator for the Flemish Red Cross at Pukkelpop. He attributed the lower number of cases partly to cooler weather compared to the previous year, with most attendees seeking help for skin issues after falls.

One of the standout moments of the festival was Natasha Bedingfield's performance of her 2004 hit "Unwritten." The massive Wave tent, with a capacity of 15,000, was overwhelmed by enthusiastic fans singing along, extending far beyond its walls. The sheer volume of attendees attempting to record the performance on their mobile phones led to temporary network congestion. "The telecom operator had to temporarily reduce the network for visitors so that mobile traffic for emergency calls remains possible," explained spokesperson Frederik Luyten. "It was short-lived, but it shows what effect Natasha had with that one hit."

It was a fantastic edition. We started the festival with some less favorable weather forecasts, but apart from a few short showers, we had great festival weather.

Other performances also drew large crowds, with The Atomic Orchestra packing out the Marquee tent. Organizers are considering the possibility of them moving to the Main Stage next year. Unlike previous years, the festival will not conclude with fireworks due to drought conditions, but organizers have promised a spectacular alternative. Attendees can continue the festivities until 3 a.m. in various dedicated areas like the Boiler, Club, or Booth.
