Pula Film Festival: AI Panel, Audience Reactions, and New Documentaries Highlighted

The Pula Film Festival buzzed with activity as it hosted a panel on artificial intelligence in the film industry, alongside presentations of films from its main program. Audiences and critics offered their evaluations of the cinematic offerings.

Young actor Andrija Lamot shared his joy at seeing the film "Glavonja" connect with its audience, especially children facing similar challenges. Director Marina Andree Škop highlighted the film's focus on understanding autism and those who are different, noting that while older characters are caricatures, the child characters are deeply motivated.

Actress Judita Franković Brdar described her experience working with the youngest cast members as wonderful, emphasizing the mutual learning. The film “Bijelo se pere na devedeset” featured Anica Dobra as a grandmother, a role she found a welcome departure from her comfort zone. Co-screenwriter and director Marko Naberšnik noted the film's emotional depth without resorting to sentimentality.

Srđan Kovačević's documentary "Ono što treba činiti" was also presented. Kovačević stated that the film was inspired by the injustices he has witnessed throughout his life. He announced plans for a new documentary addressing violent evictions in 1990s Split.

The festival also included a panel titled "Artificial Intelligence in Film Art – Challenges and Advantages," which opened a dialogue on topics relevant to the film and audiovisual community, featuring academics and industry professionals.
