Punjab faces a greater threat from other provinces than from 'neighbouring countries': CM Maryam

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the province faced less danger from neighbouring countries than from the provinces around it, placing the focus on Pakistan's internal borders.

Speaking at an artificial intelligence technology event in Lahore, she said terrorism entered Punjab from neighbouring provinces. “The unfortunate thing is that the threat I (Punjab) face comes less from my neighbouring countries and more from my neighbouring provinces,” she said.

She asserted that the law and order situation had improved significantly since her government came to power in 2024. At the same time, she identified organised crime and religious intolerance as major challenges facing the province.
