Puspakom rolls out AI-powered vehicle inspection system

Puspakom Sdn. Bhd. has launched an advanced AI-powered vehicle inspection system designed to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Developed in collaboration with local tech firm Keymag Sdn. Bhd., the system utilizes intelligent image analysis to automate the detection of vehicle components and defects.

Mahmood Razak Bahman, CEO of Puspakom, stated that the AI integration redefines vehicle inspections by improving operational efficiency, consistency, and customer experience without compromising the integrity of statutory checks. The system can consistently identify issues such as corrosion, oil leaks, brake system failures, axle damage, and structural defects.

This technological leap offers tangible benefits, particularly for commercial vehicle drivers. The AI system slashes under-vehicle inspection time from 10 minutes to approximately one minute, a nearly 90% reduction. This recovered time allows drivers more opportunities for deliveries, customer service, or returning home earlier, a significant advantage in the time-sensitive logistics industry.

As an example, by reducing the time required for AI-powered under-vehicle inspection from 10 minutes to about one minute, a reduction of almost 90 percent from the inspection period, a truck driver gains approximately 10 additional minutes that can be used for deliveries, serving customers, or returning home earlier.

Beyond individual benefits, the increased efficiency enables Puspakom to inspect more vehicles per hour, boosting service capacity and reducing wait times. This contributes to a safer and more efficient transportation ecosystem for all Malaysians. The system also provides digital inspection records, enhancing transparency and supporting objective verification if findings are disputed, ensuring adherence to the highest safety and regulatory standards.

Puspakom is further expanding its AI capabilities through ASTRA, an over-vehicle inspection solution being developed with Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). Future plans include AI-powered tire inspection. These initiatives are part of Puspakom's long-term strategy for smart vehicle inspection and continuous innovation.
