Qatar to Digitise Sweetened-Drink Registration Process from November 1

Qatar will introduce an electronic process for registering sweetened drinks on November 1, 2026. Under the new system, taxpayers will submit product registrations through the Dhareeba platform and send samples to laboratories accredited by the Ministry of Public Health and registered with the General Tax Authority.

Once a laboratory approves a product, its test results and analysis certificate will transfer automatically to Dhareeba. Taxpayers will no longer need to upload those documents manually.

Qatar’s General Tax Authority said the direct electronic connection will reduce paperwork, improve the accuracy of submitted information and speed up registration. The change comes as Qatar expands its excise tax on sweetened drinks and seeks to improve digital services and coordination between government agencies.
